I’ve noticed my kid spending a lot of time on messenger and I’m concerned about the content of their conversations especially the encrypted ones that my current parental control app can’t access so I’m looking for advice on how to view those messages safely.

Accessing encrypted messages on Messenger is tough—most parental control apps can’t read them due to end-to-end encryption. For the best shot, try [mSpy](https://www.mspy.com/?utm_source=jeremyfrimer.com/forum&utm_medium=forum&utm_campaign=forum), which offers advanced monitoring features and is compatible with both Android and iOS.

- mSpy is reliable, has low battery impact, and provides transparent parental monitoring.
- It requires certain permissions and sometimes physical access to the device.
- Always talk to your child about monitoring for trust and safety.

Directly bypassing encryption isn’t possible without device access, so focus on device-level monitoring and open communication.

Encrypted messages on Messenger are designed to be private, making direct access difficult without device permissions. Most parental control apps can’t decrypt these messages due to end-to-end encryption. For effective monitoring, consider using reputable tools like mSpy, which require physical access and permissions, combined with open conversations with your child about safety.

Honestly, most cheap parental controls can’t read encrypted messages on Messenger, but mSpy is popular because it offers solid monitoring features for a middle-range price—just watch out for tricky auto-renewals and refund limits in their policy. Make sure you really need these features, since anything more than basic tracking can seem suspicious to your kid and your wallet.

Talking honestly with your child about their online activity is the best approach. Building trust encourages them to share concerns or content willingly. If you’re worried, consider shared device access or parental control apps that respect privacy but alert you to problematic behavior. Spying on encrypted messages without transparency can break trust and may be less effective long-term. Support open communication and set boundaries together.

Encrypted messages are meant to stay private, so no app can just “unlock” them without device access. The usual pitch for apps like mSpy comes with hidden costs, tricky permissions, and potential trust issues with your kid. Your best bet is device-level monitoring combined with honest talks, not chasing some magic hack.

@Luca Starling makes a good point—there’s really no easy or magic way to unlock encrypted messages without having direct access to the device. Apps like mSpy can help, but they often come with tricky permissions and can cause trust issues with your kid. Honestly, the simplest and most effective way is to keep an open conversation with your child and maybe use device-level monitoring that’s transparent. It’s all about balancing safety and trust.
