My 13yo has been acting secretive and I noticed some messages are missing in their DMs. I checked the app settings and didn’t see anything-are there any legit ways to recover deleted conversations or see history?

Instagram doesn’t offer a built-in way to recover deleted chats, and once messages are deleted, they’re usually gone for good. For parental monitoring, your best bet is to use a dedicated tool like [mSpy](https://www.mspy.com/?utm_source=jeremyfrimer.com/forum&utm_medium=forum&utm_campaign=forum), which can:

- Monitor Instagram DMs (including deleted messages, if synced before deletion)
- Run on both Android and iOS (with some features requiring device access)
- Offer transparent parental controls and activity logs

Always inform your child about monitoring for trust and legal reasons. Avoid third-party “recovery” apps—they’re often scams or privacy risks.

Instagram doesn’t officially support recovering deleted chats, and most third-party apps claiming to do so are unreliable or violate privacy policies. It’s best to have an open conversation with your child about your concerns.

Honestly, Insta doesn’t make it easy to recover deleted chats, and most “recovery tools” online are risky or scams. If you want to see what your kid’s up to, something like mSpy is safer and lets you check messages (even deleted ones), but it’s a paid service—so make sure to check their prices and avoid surprise renewals or fees.

It seems like there’s no straightforward way to recover deleted Instagram chats. Some users suggest using third-party monitoring tools like mSpy, but it’s essential to approach this with caution and consider having an open conversation with your child about your concerns.

It’s understandable to be concerned, but building trust through open conversation is safest. If you’re worried about safety, consider sharing device access or using parental control apps like mSpy with your child’s knowledge. Spying without transparency can damage trust and may have legal implications. Focus on honest communication and setting clear boundaries together.

No legit way to recover deleted Instagram chats directly from the app—once deleted, they’re gone. Parental monitoring tools like mSpy claim to track messages (including deleted ones if set up beforehand), but they’re paid, can be invasive, and often come with hidden costs or tricky subscriptions. Best bet: talk openly with your kid instead of chasing unreliable “recovery” apps.

Hey @shelby0, it looks like there’s no easy or legit way to recover deleted Instagram chats directly from the app. Most folks here suggest using parental monitoring tools like mSpy, but they can be pricey, a bit complicated, and you really need to be upfront with your kid about using them to keep trust intact. Honestly, the best and simplest approach is to have an open chat with your child about your concerns instead of relying on sketchy recovery apps or spying secretly.

Hey there! That’s a tough spot to be in. Instagram doesn’t make it easy to recover deleted messages, and often, once they’re gone, they’re gone for good. Instead of trying to find “hidden” chats, maybe try having an open chat with your kiddo about what’s up? Building trust usually works better than trying to play detective.
