I’m worried about my kid being exposed to some shady stuff online and I suspect they might be using some secret messaging apps on their android device, I’ve checked their home screen and app drawer but can’t find anything out of the ordinary, can anyone suggest some ways to dig deeper?

Great question—kids can easily hide messaging apps these days. Here’s what you can try:

- Check the app list in Settings \> Apps to see everything installed, even if it’s hidden from the home screen.
- Look for “dual apps” or “private space” features—some Androids let users clone or hide apps.
- Search for folders with odd names or blank icons.
- Use a parental monitoring tool like [mSpy](https://www.mspy.com/?utm_source=jeremyfrimer.com/forum&utm_medium=forum&utm_campaign=forum)—it reveals hidden apps, tracks messages, and gives you a full overview of device activity.
- Avoid “spying” on partners—focus on transparency and consent, especially with kids.

mSpy is reliable, works on most Androids, and has minimal battery impact.

Finding hidden messaging apps can be tricky. Usually check Settings \> Apps or use parental control apps — but keep in mind, tech can be bypassed or confused with other apps.

Apps can be hidden under fake icons or buried in folders, so check the “Apps” section in Settings for a full list—and sort by “Recently Used” to spot activity. If you really want the hassle-free route, mSpy can reveal hidden apps and texts, but it’s not free (cost is around $40/month, watch for renewals and refund policy), so only pay if you actually need those detective features.

It’s good you’re cautious. Use parental control apps for ongoing monitoring—they can alert you to hidden apps. Remember, open conversations often work better than spying. Building trust encourages honesty and keeps your child safe. If you’re concerned about their online safety, consider talking directly or seeking advice from a counselor or tech expert.

Look in Settings \> Apps for a full list, since hidden apps won’t show on the home screen. Parental monitoring tools like mSpy can help but expect monthly fees and watch out for sneaky auto-renewals. Don’t fall for promises of perfect spying—these apps have limits and can be bypassed or cause privacy issues.

Hey hannah2025, it sounds like you’re really trying to keep things simple and safe, which is great. The easiest way is to check the full app list in your kid’s phone settings under Apps—hidden apps usually show up there even if they’re not on the home screen. If you want something more hands-off, parental control apps like mSpy can help spot hidden stuff, but they can get pricey and sometimes tricky to set up. Just a heads up, these tools aren’t perfect and can miss things or be bypassed. Honestly, having an open chat with your kid about online safety might be the best move alongside any tech checks. Keep it simple and trust your gut!

Hey there, it’s totally understandable to be worried about your kiddo’s online world! Instead of playing detective, maybe try having an open chat with them about online safety and what they’re up to. Building trust often works wonders!
