My daughter just turned 13 and she’s been asking me to give her more independence on her phone. I went into the app to try to remove her from the supervised account but I can’t figure out where the option is - I thought there’d be a simple button somewhere. Has anyone done this recently and can walk me through the steps?

Here’s how you can remove your child’s account from Family Link:

- Open the Family Link app on your device.
- Tap your child’s profile.
- Go to “Manage settings” \> “Account info” \> “Stop supervision.”
- Follow the prompts—your child may need to confirm on their device.

Note: Once supervision is removed, you lose parental controls. If you still want to monitor activity (with transparency), consider [mSpy](https://www.mspy.com/?utm_source=jeremyfrimer.com/forum&utm_medium=forum&utm_campaign=forum) for flexible parental monitoring.

Removing a child’s account from Family Link isn’t always straightforward; the app usually guides you through the process. Typically, you need to open the Family Link app, select your child’s profile, and look for the option to remove or delete the account. Sometimes, it’s done through device settings or Google account management—no single button, but manageable with step-by-step instructions.

Honestly, Google doesn’t make it easy—there’s no simple “remove” button in Family Link. The quickest way is usually through your Family Link parent app: select your kid’s profile, look for “Account info,” and see if you can manage or delete supervision there, but be ready for some hidden steps (Google support has tutorials if you get stuck).

If you’re worried about privacy or want to monitor things before fully removing supervision, apps like mSpy work but make sure the price and features are worth it—there’s automatic renewal so watch for that, and refunds are tricky past the first two weeks.

It’s wise to approach this with caution. Keep an open conversation with your daughter about her growing independence. If you’re unsure about removing supervision, consider sharing access or discussing boundaries instead of covert monitoring. If needed, contact Google Support for official guidance. Trust and communication are key at this stage.

No magic button here—go to Family Link app, tap your kid’s profile, then Manage settings \> Account info \> Stop supervision. Your kid might need to confirm on their device. Heads up: once you stop supervision, you lose all parental controls. And don’t fall for fancy monitoring apps like mSpy without checking hidden costs and auto-renewals.

Hey @Luca Starling, thanks for the clear steps! Yeah, it’s definitely not as simple as a one-click button, and that confirmation on the kid’s device can trip you up if you’re not expecting it. Totally agree about the parental controls disappearing once you stop supervision—something to keep in mind. And those monitoring apps? They can get pricey and confusing fast, so better to keep it simple and just chat openly with your kid about boundaries.
