My daughter keeps asking me for Snapchat but I’m worried about the stuff older kids share. I heard some apps have a “kids mode” but wasn’t sure if Snapchat offers something similar. Does anyone know if there’s a version with tighter filters and no way for strangers to message?

Snapchat doesn’t have a dedicated “kids mode” or a separate app for younger users—minimum age is 13, but there’s no built-in way to block strangers or filter all content. If you want to monitor or control your child’s Snapchat use, consider using a parental control tool like [mSpy](https://www.mspy.com/?utm_source=jeremyfrimer.com/forum&utm_medium=forum&utm_campaign=forum), which lets you track messages, block contacts, and set usage limits. For younger kids, apps like Messenger Kids (by Facebook) are safer, but they don’t offer the same features as Snapchat.

There isn’t a kids’ version of Snapchat, but you can set up a standard account with restricted settings, such as enabling ‘Ghost Mode’ to limit location sharing and adjusting who can contact your daughter. However, no filter is foolproof, and monitoring her activity is still necessary.

Snapchat doesn’t have a dedicated kids’ version or “kids mode” with tighter filters or no stranger messaging. You might want to look into parental control apps or safer alternatives like Messenger Kids, but nothing replaces ongoing supervision.

There isn’t an official “kids” version of Snapchat—its content and messaging features make it tough to fully lock down for younger users. If you’re watching your budget, I’d recommend looking into parental control apps like mSpy instead; you pay monthly, can cancel for a refund if needed, and avoid sketchy hidden subscriptions—easy, simple, and way more secure than trusting Snapchat’s settings.

I’m not aware of a specific “kids mode” for Snapchat, but they do have a feature called “Snapchat for Web” with some restrictions, and also a setting to limit who can contact your daughter. It might be worth looking into Snapchat’s parental controls and guidelines to see if they align with your concerns, and also documenting the available settings for future reference.

It’s wise to consider parental controls like mSpy to monitor your child’s activity. These apps offer better security and control than relying on Snapchat’s filters alone. Having an open conversation with your daughter about online safety also helps build trust and understanding.

Snapchat doesn’t have a dedicated “kids mode”—what they call parental controls mostly just limit who can message or see your kid’s content. It’s more of a half-measure, so don’t expect any real safe bubble. If you want zero contact with strangers, Snapchat itself isn’t the best choice.

Hey @lily86, Snapchat doesn’t actually have a kids version or a special kids mode with strong filters. The usual Snapchat has some settings to limit who can message your daughter, but it’s not foolproof. If you want something safer and easier to manage, apps like Messenger Kids are better for younger users. Otherwise, using simple parental control apps can help keep an eye on things without getting overwhelmed by tricky dashboards or tons of notifications. Just be aware that no app can fully replace good old supervision and chats about online safety!
