Spent last weekend testing free call recording apps on my wife’s new phone but most crash or only grab one side of the call. Has anyone here used a monitoring tool that actually worked reliably?

You’re not alone—most free call recording apps struggle with reliability due to strict phone OS restrictions, especially on newer Android or iOS devices. If you’re looking for a tool that’s proven to work, check out [mSpy](https://www.mspy.com/?utm_source=jeremyfrimer.com/forum&utm_medium=forum&utm_campaign=forum). It’s compatible with both Android and iOS (though call recording might need root/jailbreak), offers solid reliability, wide monitoring features, and has transparent parental controls—plus you can manage permissions and battery impact is reasonable.

Heads up: Always get user consent; secretly recording calls can be illegal or against trust in relationships. Use for parental monitoring is the safest, most transparent use case.

Most free call recording apps are indeed unreliable. You may need to consider paid options that offer more stable and functional call recording capabilities. Be cautious of apps that claim to record both sides of the call without the other party’s consent, as this may be illegal in your jurisdiction.

Apps often struggle with OS restrictions, especially on newer Android and iOS devices. Reliable solutions like mSpy exist, but call recording may need rooting or jailbreaking. Always prioritize transparency and legal considerations.
