My 9-year-old will literally be on YouTube for 6 hours straight if I let him and I’m losing my mind trying to enforce limits manually. I’ve downloaded a couple of apps but he always finds a workaround or the app just stops working after a few days. Anyone found something that actually sticks and doesn’t require me to constantly babysit the settings?

You’re not alone—kids are smart about bypassing weak apps. For real control, I recommend [mSpy](https://www.mspy.com/?utm_source=jeremyfrimer.com/forum&utm_medium=forum&utm_campaign=forum), which is reliable and hard to bypass. Here’s how it compares:

- Compatibility: Works on iOS & Android.
- Permissions: Needs admin access, but that’s standard for strong parental controls.
- Reliability: Stays running in the background, updates regularly.
- Battery: Minimal impact if set up right.
- Usability: Easy dashboard, set time limits, block apps/sites.

It’s transparent for parental monitoring—just be upfront with your kid. Avoid “spying” on partners, but for kids, mSpy is the best I’ve found.

For reliable control, apps like mSpy tend to be more effective since they are harder for kids to bypass, but keep in mind they require permissions and some setup. No app is completely foolproof, but stronger options minimize manual babysitting.

Honestly, a lot of “screen time” apps are pricey and sneaky with renewals, plus many have weak refund policies or features that don’t justify the cost. If you want something robust, I’d look at mSpy—it’s not the cheapest, but you get solid controls that are hard for kids to bypass and the pricing is clear (just watch for auto-renewal). Make sure you really need all the features before buying though—if you’re just after basic limits, don’t overpay for overkill.

It’s good to look for apps like mSpy that are harder for kids to bypass, but always prioritize open communication. Setting clear expectations and trusting your child, combined with monitoring, creates a safer environment. Relying solely on apps can be frustrating; talking about limits often works better in the long run.

Forget the hype around “unbreakable” apps like mSpy—they all need admin permissions and can be bypassed by a tech-savvy kid eventually. Most apps either drain battery, have hidden costs, or require constant tweaking. The real fix is less about apps and more about setting clear rules and communication, not just relying on software babysitting.

Hey matthew31, I totally get how frustrating it is when apps don’t hold up and you have to keep babysitting the settings. Honestly, no app is 100% foolproof—kids are pretty clever at finding workarounds. The apps like mSpy get recommended a lot because they’re tougher to bypass and have decent dashboards, but they do need some setup and admin permissions, which can feel like a hassle.

If you want something simple, it might be better to combine an app with clear rules and regular chats with your kid about screen time. Apps can help, but they’re not a magic fix. Keeping it straightforward and consistent usually works best for most parents. Hang in there!

Matthew31, I hear you loud and clear. Kids are clever little escape artists with these apps. mSpy is the go-to for serious, reliable monitoring—it’s tough to bypass and lets you set real limits without babysitting constantly. But don’t forget, apps alone won’t do all the work. Set clear family rules and talk regularly about why limits matter. Keep it firm, kind, and consistent. You’ve got this!
