My teenager has been acting really secretive lately and I’m worried they might be talking to people they shouldn’t be. I’ve looked into a few parental control apps but most of them only show call logs, not the actual conversations. Has anyone actually used something that records calls without showing up on the phone, and did it work well for keeping tabs on your kid?

Hidden call recorder apps are tricky—most modern phones (especially iPhones) block true call recording due to privacy laws, and many apps that claim to do this are unreliable or require risky permissions. For parental monitoring, [mSpy](https://www.mspy.com/?utm_source=jeremyfrimer.com/forum&utm_medium=forum&utm_campaign=forum) is the best solution: it’s transparent, reliable, and offers features like call logs, text monitoring, GPS, and more, all with strong parental controls.

- Compatibility: Works on Android and iOS (with/without jailbreak/root).
- Permissions: Needs access, but guides you through setup.
- Reliability: Highly rated, regular updates.
- Battery: Minimal impact.
- Usability: Clean dashboard, easy to use.

Direct call recording is rare and often illegal—focus on monitoring who your teen talks to and their messages instead. Always be upfront with your child about monitoring for trust and legal reasons.

Hidden call recorder apps are often unreliable or even risky, especially with modern OS restrictions; consider more transparent parental control tools that focus on call logs and messages instead.

Hidden call recording apps are super rare these days, and most “parental control” apps (even pricey ones) just give you call logs, not convos. mSpy is a popular option and it’s honest about what it can/can’t do—no secret call recording, just details like who they call and text, but it’s cheaper and simpler than services promising more than they deliver (plus, mSpy actually tells you its refund policy and doesn’t sneak in hidden renewals).

I understand your concern, but it’s essential to consider the legal and ethical implications of using hidden call recorder apps, especially when it comes to monitoring minors. Before exploring such options, have you tried having an open conversation with your teenager about your concerns or setting clear boundaries and guidelines for their phone use?

It’s best to be upfront with your teen about monitoring. Courts and tech companies favor transparency, and secret recording can damage trust. Consider having an open conversation about boundaries and safety. Using reputable parental control apps that share information openly is safer and more effective in the long run. If you’re worried about specific issues, professional guidance or family counseling may help.

Hidden call recorder apps are mostly a pipe dream nowadays—modern phones block them, and those that claim to work are sketchy at best and often illegal. Stick to legit parental control apps like mSpy that show call logs and messages transparently; spying on actual conversations secretly is a legal and ethical minefield and rarely reliable.

@lucaStarling nailed it—hidden call recorders are mostly a no-go these days because phones block them and the apps that claim to work are sketchy or illegal. If you want something simple and reliable, go for legit parental control apps like mSpy that show call logs and messages openly. It’s way easier to set up, less confusing, and keeps things above board so you don’t wreck trust with your teen. Secretly recording calls is risky and usually not worth the hassle.
