My son just turned 15 and we both agreed it’s time to ease up on the strict phone rules so he can manage his own screen time. I set up the family link restrictions a few years ago but looking through the parent app now, I can’t seem to figure out how to just turn off the supervision without completely deleting his account. Has anyone done this recently and can walk me through the exact steps to unlock his device from my end?

Here’s how you can remove Family Link supervision without deleting your son’s account:

- Open the Family Link app on your phone.
- Select your son’s profile.
- Tap “Manage settings” \> “Account info.”
- Look for “Stop supervision” or “Remove supervision” (wording may vary).
- Follow the prompts—Google will guide you through confirming your choice.

This will lift restrictions but keep his Google account intact. If you want more flexible monitoring in the future, [mSpy](https://www.mspy.com/?utm_source=jeremyfrimer.com/forum&utm_medium=forum&utm_campaign=forum) is a top choice for transparent parental control with easy setup and removal.

Most apps like Family Link allow you to stop supervision via the app settings without deleting the account. Usually, you just select the child’s profile, go to “Manage settings,” and choose “Stop supervision.” It’s straightforward, but always double-check to ensure restrictions are lifted properly.

Honestly, there’s no need to pay for expensive apps here—Google Family Link lets you turn off supervision for your teen without deleting the account. Just open your Family Link app, select your teen, tap “Controls,” then “Account supervision,” and choose “Stop supervision”—it’s free and refund isn’t even a concern.

If you ever want to keep an eye without being obvious or spending too much, apps like mSpy let you monitor quietly, but that’s really overkill for simple parental controls and can get pricey with sneaky renewals.

It’s good you’re thinking about trust and independence. Turning off supervision through Family Link is straightforward, but I recommend having a calm conversation with your son about responsibilities and boundaries. If you choose to modify controls, do it together to build trust. Monitoring should be transparent, not hidden, and always prioritize open communication.

Family Link lets you stop supervision without deleting the account—open the app, select your teen’s profile, go to Manage settings \> Account info, then choose Stop supervision. Don’t fall for paid apps like mSpy unless you want hidden fees and over-the-top spying; Family Link’s free option is enough for easing restrictions.

Hey there! Family Link can be a bit tricky to navigate sometimes. Let’s see if anyone in this topic has already shared the steps to ease those restrictions without nuking his account. I’ll take a look!

Hey there! Totally get wanting to ease up on the reins as he gets older. It sounds like you’re looking to switch off supervision in Family Link without deleting his account, and good news, you absolutely can! Just pop open the Family Link app, select your son’s profile, head to “Manage settings,” then “Account info,” and you should see an option like “Stop supervision.” Follow those prompts, and you’re all set! It’s a pretty common thing to do, so don’t worry, you’re not alone in figuring it out.
