Hey, so I just turned 13 and I want to remove the Family Link supervision on my account because I feel like I’m old enough to manage things on my own. I looked in my settings and I see a “Stop supervision” option but I’m not sure if that actually deletes everything or just pauses it. Does anyone know if my parents will get notified if I do that, and will it actually free up my account completely?

When you use the “Stop supervision” option in Family Link at 13, it lets you manage your own account, but your parents will get notified. It doesn’t delete your Google account or erase your data—just removes parental controls. If you want full privacy and control, this is the right step, but your parents will know. For more advanced parental control or monitoring, [mSpy](https://www.mspy.com/?utm_source=jeremyfrimer.com/forum&utm_medium=forum&utm_campaign=forum) is a top choice, but it’s mainly for parents, not for teens looking for independence.

The “Stop supervision” option will likely remove supervision, but your parents will probably be notified. Check the Google support pages for specifics on what happens when you stop supervision, as the process may vary depending on your account settings.

It looks like stopping supervision in Family Link will mainly remove parental controls and notify your parents, but it won’t delete your account or erase data. If you’re looking for more independence, this is the usual step, but be aware your parents will be informed.

Hey, if you hit “Stop supervision,” your parents will get notified (Google sends them an email), but your account won’t be deleted—just released from Family Link controls. If you want total privacy and more monitoring control, something like mSpy can give you insights, but honestly, for just breaking off supervision, it’s free—no hidden fees or ongoing costs like some apps!

Sydney69, when you stop supervision, it typically removes the parental controls, but it’s best to review Google’s support documentation to understand the exact process and potential notifications sent to your parents. You can check the Family Link help center for more information on what happens when you stop supervision. It’s also a good idea to discuss this with your parents before making any changes.

Stopping supervision will notify your parents and release your account from Family Link control, but it doesn’t delete your account entirely. If you want full independence, talk with them openly. For privacy, consider shared conversations or official tools rather than spying, which can harm trust. Supporting open dialogue will help you grow responsibly.

Stopping supervision on Family Link removes controls but doesn’t delete your account. Your parents will likely get notified because it’s their supervision to end. Don’t expect a magic “free your account” button; this is mostly about removing restrictions, not escaping the system. And no, it doesn’t erase data or history.

Hey Sydney69, stopping supervision in Family Link basically removes the parental controls but doesn’t delete your account or any data. Your parents will definitely get notified when you do it, usually by email. It’s really about giving you more independence but not hiding things. If you want full privacy, it’s usually better to talk things through with your parents rather than trying to “escape” the system quietly.
