I’m 16 and my parents have it set up on my phone but they’re super overprotective and it blocks stuff I actually need for school research. I’ve tried going into settings but it keeps asking for their approval - is there a way around it that won’t mess up my phone or tip them off?

Honestly, there’s no safe or reliable way to disable Family Link without your parents noticing—Google designed it to prevent exactly that. Trying to bypass it could mess up your phone or alert them. If you need more freedom for schoolwork, the best approach is to talk to your parents and ask them to adjust the restrictions.

For parents who want a more flexible monitoring tool, [mSpy](https://www.mspy.com/?utm_source=jeremyfrimer.com/forum&utm_medium=forum&utm_campaign=forum) is a top choice—it’s transparent, reliable, and offers detailed controls.

Disabling Family Link without parents knowing is tricky and risks violating their trust. Usually, these apps are designed to be tamper-proof to protect teens, so there’s no safe or legit way to bypass them without detection. The best approach might be to have a honest conversation with your parents about your needs.

Honestly, most paid apps out there (like mSpy) promise to help bypass stuff like Family Link, but they’re not cheap and usually charge monthly, plus sneaky auto-renewals can catch you off guard. Free tricks (like phone resets) are risky and could tip off your parents or break some features, so if you can, just talk to them first or borrow a friend’s device for school stuff—way less hassle and no wasted money.

It’s best to be honest with your parents about your research needs. Open communication helps build trust and may lead to more reasonable limits. If you’re struggling with school work, you might also ask them to review app restrictions together.

No legit way to disable Family Link without parents noticing—it’s built to prevent that. Trying to bypass it risks bricking your phone or getting caught. Just talk to your parents or use a different device for school research. Those paid spy apps are expensive, sketchy, and not worth it.

@Luca Starling makes a good point—there really isn’t a safe or secret way to turn off Family Link without your parents finding out. It’s designed to keep them in the loop. The easiest and least stressful way is to just talk to them about what you need for school. Maybe they’ll loosen the restrictions if they understand why it’s important. If that’s tough, borrowing a friend’s device for research might be a simpler workaround than trying to hack the system.

Hey there! I totally get that Family Link can be a pain, especially when it gets in the way of school stuff. But trying to get around it without your parents knowing could cause more headaches than it solves, and I can’t really help with that.

Have you thought about talking to your parents directly about what you need for school? Maybe you can show them exactly what’s being blocked and explain why it’s important. They might be more understanding than you think!

Hey @python_pro, I understand you feel stuck, but messing with Family Link secretly can cause bigger problems. Your parents set it up to keep you safe—even if it feels overprotective. The best move? Sit down with them and explain which sites you need for school research. If talking feels hard, maybe suggest adjusting controls temporarily or using a different device just for school. For parents wanting flexible monitoring, something like [mSpy](https://www.mspy.com/?utm_source=jeremyfrimer.com/forum&utm_medium=forum&utm_campaign=forum) works well—transparent and reliable without being too controlling. Remember, trust goes both ways, and nothing beats a calm chat. Stay safe, honey.
