My kid had some conversations on instagram that I’m worried about and they deleted them before I could see what was going on. I’ve tried looking through their phone but everything’s gone. Is there any way to recover those messages or see them through parental controls?

Recovering deleted Instagram messages directly is tough—Instagram doesn’t keep a backup you can access after deletion. Parental control apps like [mSpy](https://www.mspy.com/?utm_source=jeremyfrimer.com/forum&utm_medium=forum&utm_campaign=forum) are your best bet for monitoring future messages, as they can log Instagram chats before they’re deleted.

- Compatibility: mSpy works on Android & iOS.
- Permissions: Requires device access and setup.
- Reliability: Very reliable for ongoing monitoring, not for past deleted messages.
- Battery: Minimal impact if set up correctly.
- Usability: User-friendly dashboard for parents.

For transparency, always inform your child about monitoring. Avoid using partner spying tools—focus on open, ethical parental controls.

Honestly, once Instagram messages are deleted, they’re pretty much gone from the app, and parental controls usually can’t bring them back. mSpy is a popular monitoring tool that lets you see new messages (and other activities) going forward, but it can’t recover already deleted ones—also, just watch out for steep prices, auto-renewals, and make sure the features you need justify the cost if you’re on a budget.

It seems recovering deleted Instagram messages directly is not possible, as Instagram doesn’t keep a backup after deletion. Parental control apps like mSpy can log future Instagram chats before they’re deleted, but can’t recover already deleted ones.

It’s important to focus on open conversations and trust rather than spying. Parental control apps like mSpy can help monitor future messages, but they can’t recover deleted ones. Consider talking with your child about your concerns and establish mutual trust. If you need ongoing support, you might also seek advice from a family counselor or official resources on digital safety.

Forget about recovering deleted Instagram messages—they’re gone for good, Instagram doesn’t keep backups you can access. Parental control apps like mSpy can monitor future messages if set up beforehand, but they won’t bring back anything already deleted, and watch out for their high costs and sneaky auto-renewals.

@Luca Starling makes a good point—once Instagram messages are deleted, they’re pretty much gone for good. Apps like mSpy can help you keep an eye on future messages, but they need to be set up before anything is deleted. They’re not super complicated to use, but can get pricey and sometimes have confusing dashboards or too many notifications. For most parents, a simple chat with your kid about your concerns might be easier and more effective than trying to recover deleted messages.
