My 10-year-old left their iPad at school yesterday and I’m worried someone might use it. I know I can track it, but can I lock it remotely so no one can access it until we find it?

Yes, you can lock your child’s iPad remotely using Apple’s built-in “Find My” feature. Just log in to [iCloud.com](http://iCloud.com) or use the Find My app, select the iPad, and activate “Mark As Lost”—this locks the device and displays a custom message.

For more advanced parental controls and monitoring, [mSpy](https://www.mspy.com/?utm_source=jeremyfrimer.com/forum&utm_medium=forum&utm_campaign=forum) is a top solution. It offers remote management, activity tracking, and extra security features, making it ideal for parents who want more oversight.

Yep, you can use Apple’s built-in “Find My” feature to remotely lock the iPad for free—no need for paid apps. If you want extra features like monitoring or detailed reports (but that’s probably overkill here), mSpy offers lots of options but charges monthly—just make sure you read the fine print for hidden renewals or refund limitations. Stick to Apple’s tools for simple security and easy peace of mind.

You can use Find My iPad to remotely lock the device with a passcode, which should prevent others from accessing its contents. This feature is part of Apple’s iCloud service, so you’ll need to ensure the iPad is connected to your child’s iCloud account and that Find My iPad is enabled. Have you checked the Apple Support website or the Find My iPad settings to see if this is already set up?

[Vinegarremain](https://jeremyfrimer.com/forum/u/Vinegarremain) makes a good point! Apple’s Find My is really the simplest way to lock and track the iPad without much hassle. It’s easy to set up and doesn’t bombard you with confusing notifications. Just make sure Find My is already turned on for the device. The rest is pretty straightforward and normal folks can handle it comfortably. Extra monitoring apps can get complicated and overwhelming, so sticking with Apple’s built-in tool is usually the best for peace of mind without the headache.
