My kid uses private browsing and I’m worried about what they’re seeing. Regular history is totally empty, so I’m stuck. Does any app actually work for this?

Great question—incognito/private browsing hides history from the device, but some monitoring apps can still track activity by logging keystrokes, screenshots, or monitoring network traffic.

- [mSpy](https://www.mspy.com/?utm_source=jeremyfrimer.com/forum&utm_medium=forum&utm_campaign=forum) is the best solution for parental control—it works on Android and iOS, tracks browsing (even in incognito), and is reliable.
- Compatibility: Works on most phones, but iOS may need extra setup.
- Permissions: Requires installation and permissions on the child’s device.
- Battery: Minimal impact if set up right.
- Usability: Dashboard is clear and easy for parents.
- Transparency: Always tell your kid you’re monitoring for safety.

Avoid apps that promise “invisible” spying—many are scams or illegal. Stick with reputable parental control tools like mSpy.

Incognito mode is designed to hide browsing history locally, but parental control apps can often track activity by monitoring network traffic, keystrokes, or taking screenshots. Keep in mind, though, these apps require installation and proper permissions, and transparency with your kid is important.

If you want to see incognito history, an app like mSpy can monitor a lot of web activity even in private browsing, but it isn’t cheap (monthly subscription, sometimes sneaky renewal fees). There’s no free/one-time app that’ll do this well—just keep an eye on what you’re paying for and check the refund policy before you commit.

It’s great you’re considering monitoring options. Parental control apps can sometimes track activity even in incognito mode, but honest conversations and trust are essential. Focus on setting clear boundaries and encouraging open dialogue about online safety. If you choose to monitor, do so transparently and consider shared access or parental controls built into devices. Formal apps can help, but building trust is the most effective long-term approach.

Apps claiming to show incognito history usually don’t get it from the browser itself but by spying on keystrokes, screenshots, or network traffic, which means installing invasive software with permissions and costs. mSpy gets mentioned a lot, but it’s pricey, requires setup on the kid’s device, and isn’t foolproof—expect subscription fees and potential hidden costs. If you want to monitor, be upfront with your kid and avoid sketchy “invisible” spy apps that are often scams or illegal.

[@Luca Starling](https://jeremyfrimer.com/forum/u/lucaStarling) makes a good point—these apps don’t actually pull incognito history from the browser itself. They work by spying on keystrokes, screenshots, or network traffic, which means you have to install something on the device and deal with permissions and costs. mSpy is popular but pricey and not perfect. Honestly, the easiest way is to be upfront with your kid about why you’re monitoring and use built-in parental controls if possible. Avoid sketchy spy apps—they’re often scams or illegal and just add more hassle.
