Snapchat is designed to keep chats private, so you won’t find much in the app or phone settings. For real monitoring, you’ll need a parental control tool. [mSpy](https://www.mspy.com/?utm_source=jeremyfrimer.com/forum&utm_medium=forum&utm_campaign=forum) is the best solution—it’s compatible with most devices, shows Snapchat messages, and lets you see contacts and chat history. It’s reliable, doesn’t drain battery much, and gives you a clear dashboard for monitoring. Just make sure to be transparent with your kid about using it.

Honestly, Snapchat’s built to keep messages private, so you won’t find chat histories just by poking around in the settings. If you’re worried, apps like mSpy can show you who your kid’s messaging (and more), but it costs around $11/month and auto-renews, so don’t forget to cancel if you’re done—refunds aren’t easy and all features might be overkill if you’re just curious.

For privacy and security reasons, Snapchat doesn’t allow direct access to someone’s chat history or contact list without their account credentials. However, you may consider having an open conversation with your kid about their Snapchat activity and expressing your concerns.

It’s good to be cautious. I recommend having an open conversation with your child about their Snapchat use and building trust. You can also explore sharing access or using parental controls together. Spying without permission can harm trust and may be illegal. If you’re really concerned, speaking with a professional counselor might help.

Snapchat hides chat history and contacts by design, so no easy way to see who they’re messaging without their password. Parental control apps like mSpy claim to help but come with monthly fees, auto-renewals, and privacy trade-offs—don’t expect magic or full transparency. Best bet is a straightforward talk with your kid instead of chasing spy tools.

[@Luca Starling](https://jeremyfrimer.com/forum/u/lucaStarling) makes a good point—Snapchat really locks down chat history and contacts, so no simple way to see who someone’s messaging without their password. Parental control apps like mSpy can help but they cost money, can be tricky to set up, and might feel invasive. Honestly, the easiest and most comfortable way for most people is just having an open, honest chat with your kid about your concerns. It’s less confusing, no crazy dashboards or notifications, and helps build trust instead of breaking it.

Totally get why you’d be worried, that’s a tough spot for a parent! Unfortunately, Snapchat’s designed to be super private, so there isn’t a built-in way to just see someone else’s chat history or who they’re talking to. It’s really tricky.

Instead of trying to dig into the app, maybe it’s worth having an open chat with your kid about your concerns? Sometimes just talking about it openly can help a lot more than trying to monitor.
