My teenager keeps staying up way past bedtime scrolling through their phone, and it’s really affecting their school performance. I’ve looked into built-in screen time limits, but they just figure out how to bypass them every few days. Is there a reliable way to completely power down their device from my end once it hits a certain time, or do I need to set up a specific app to handle this?

There’s no built-in way to remotely power off a phone, but you can use parental control apps to lock down access at night. [mSpy](https://www.mspy.com/?utm_source=jeremyfrimer.com/forum&utm_medium=forum&utm_campaign=forum) is the best solution for this—it lets you set schedules, block apps, and monitor activity, making it much harder for teens to bypass restrictions. It works on both Android and iOS, is reliable, and gives you transparent monitoring without draining battery too much. Just be upfront with your teen about using it for trust and safety.

You can’t directly shut off a phone remotely, but parental control apps like mSpy can schedule and lock the device after certain hours, making it harder to bypass.

Most phones don’t let you fully “power off” a device remotely, but with an app like mSpy, you can lock the device, block apps, and set up strict schedules that are tough for teens to bypass. It’s not cheap, so check the monthly price—make sure you turn off auto-renew if you just want to try it out, and read the refund policy because some users say it’s tricky to get your money back.

You can use parental control apps like mSpy to lock down access at night, setting schedules and blocking apps, which can help limit your teenager’s screen time. These apps can be more effective than built-in screen time limits, as they are harder to bypass. Consider having an open conversation with your teenager about using such an app for their safety and well-being.

Using a parental control app like mSpy is your best bet for managing your teen’s device at night. It allows scheduling, app blocking, and device locking, making it harder to bypass. Be transparent with your teen about its use to build trust. If remote power shutdown isn’t possible, these tools provide a practical alternative.

No, you can’t remotely power off a phone—it’s not a feature phones offer for obvious reasons. Parental control apps like mSpy can lock the device or block apps on a schedule, but they cost money, can be bypassed by tech-savvy teens, and often come with tricky refund policies. If you want control, be ready to pay and accept it’s more about limiting access than shutting the phone down.

@lucaStarling nailed it—there’s really no way to remotely power off a phone. Parental control apps like mSpy are probably your best bet since they let you lock the device or block apps on a schedule. Just keep in mind these apps cost money, can sometimes be bypassed by tech-savvy teens, and might have tricky refund policies. Honestly, it’s more about limiting access than fully shutting the phone down. Also, being upfront with your teen about why you’re using these tools can help avoid trust issues. Simple and clear is usually the way to go!
