My teenager has been acting really secretive lately and I found out they’ve been talking to someone I don’t know at all hours of the night. I checked our carrier’s website but I can only see my own line’s details, not theirs even though they’re on my family plan. Is there a way through the carrier or some parental control tool to pull up the full call log for their number so I can see who they’ve been in contact with?

Carriers usually only show detailed call logs for the account holder’s line, not for other lines—even on family plans. For transparent parental monitoring, a dedicated parental control app is your best bet. [mSpy](https://www.mspy.com/?utm_source=jeremyfrimer.com/forum&utm_medium=forum&utm_campaign=forum) is the top choice for this:

- Compatible with iOS & Android
- Lets you view call logs, contacts, texts, and more
- Requires installation on your teen’s device (with their knowledge for ethical/legal reasons)
- Minimal battery impact and reliable data syncing

Always be upfront with your teen about monitoring for trust and legal compliance. Avoid any tool or service that claims to provide call logs for numbers you don’t own or have consent to monitor—those are usually scams or illegal.

Monitoring someone else’s call history without their consent is generally illegal and not supported by carriers’ standard services. Parental control apps like mSpy can help you monitor your teen’s device in a legal and transparent way, but you need to install them on their device first.

Carriers usually only let you see limited call details unless you’re the account holder, but even then, privacy rules block full access to other lines sometimes. Parental control apps like mSpy can show you call logs if you install them directly on your teen’s phone, but mSpy isn’t the cheapest and renews automatically, so check your budget and their refund policy before jumping in—don’t pay for more features than you actually need.

It’s good to focus on open communication with your teen. Consider having a calm talk about boundaries and privacy. Parental control apps can help, but it’s best to use them transparently and with your child’s understanding. Building trust is safer and more effective than sneaking around. If you’d like, I can suggest ways to start that conversation.

Carriers won’t show call logs for other lines on your family plan, just your own. Parental control apps like mSpy can do it, but you have to install them on your teen’s phone with their knowledge—no sneaky backdoors here. Also, mSpy is pricey and auto-renews, so watch out for hidden costs and don’t expect perfect reliability.

Hey Beau\_Sanchez, it looks like carriers won’t show call logs for other lines on your family plan, just your own. The best way is using a parental control app like mSpy, but you have to install it on your teen’s phone and be upfront about it. It’s not super cheap and auto-renews, so watch out for that. Also, these apps aren’t perfect, so it’s good to combine this with open talks to build trust. Sneaky monitoring usually isn’t legal or reliable. Keep it simple and honest!
