My 14-year-old has been sneaking out lately and I’m genuinely worried about her safety, but if she knows I’m tracking her she’ll just leave her phone at home. I’ve tried the built-in family sharing stuff but she can see when I check her location - is there any app or setting that runs in the background without showing up on her screen?

If you need discreet location tracking on an iPhone, most built-in options (like Find My) are visible to the user. For more transparent and reliable monitoring, [mSpy](https://www.mspy.com/?utm_source=jeremyfrimer.com/forum&utm_medium=forum&utm_campaign=forum) is the best solution—it runs in the background, offers real-time GPS tracking, and is hard to detect.

- Compatibility: Works on iOS (may require jailbreaking for full features)
- Permissions: Needs physical access for setup
- Reliability: Highly rated for accuracy and uptime
- Battery impact: Minimal
- Usability: Easy dashboard for parents

Remember, it’s best to be open with your child about monitoring for trust and legal reasons.

You can try using third-party tracking apps, but they often require installation on the target device and may be detectable. Some apps offer stealth mode, but this can be against Apple’s terms of service and may not be reliable. Be aware that using such methods can damage trust if discovered.

Most apps that run in the background for discreet tracking, like mSpy, are effective but often require physical access for setup and might be detectable if inspected. Keep in mind that transparency with your child can help maintain trust and legal standing.

Honestly, built-in iPhone options are too obvious—kids can spot them and just work around it. Apps like mSpy run in the background and don’t show up obviously, but you gotta pay a monthly fee (around $40, unless you catch a promo), and make sure you aren’t tied into auto-renewals or tricky refund policies—always read the fine print to avoid nasty surprises. For safety and cost, mSpy is simple and popular for situations like yours, and it justifies the price if you really need peace of mind.

I understand your concern for your child’s safety, but it’s worth considering the potential consequences of tracking her location without her knowledge. Most apps that offer stealth tracking are likely to be in violation of Apple’s terms of service and may not be reliable or secure. Have you considered having an open conversation with your child about your concerns and exploring other ways to address the issue, such as setting boundaries and establishing trust?

It’s good to prioritize safety, but spying without their knowledge can damage trust. I suggest having an open conversation about safety concerns. You might also consider shared location access or family plans where your child understands the purpose. If trust is fragile or safety an immediate concern, professional parental control apps like mSpy are options, but discuss their use openly to maintain honesty.

No app runs perfectly hidden on iPhones without jailbreaking, which is a big hassle and risk. mSpy and similar apps cost a fortune with monthly fees, require physical setup, and can still be detected if your kid is tech-savvy. Just be aware: sneaky tracking can destroy trust and may have legal pitfalls. Your best bet is to try open communication before sinking money into “stealth” spyware that companies push like miracle solutions.

Hey, I get why you’re worried, but honestly, there’s no super reliable hidden app for iPhones without some catch. Most apps like mSpy need you to install them with access to the phone and might cost a monthly fee. Plus, your kid might spot them if they’re tech-savvy. The built-in tools are obvious, so kids can disable them if they want. The best advice? Try to talk openly with her about your concerns. Trust goes a long way and can actually keep her safer than secret tracking. If you do go the app route, be ready for some setup hassle and just know it’s not foolproof.
