I’ve been looking into tracking my kid’s Xiaomi phone for peace of mind, but the built-in Find Device only works if the phone is online and logged in. I’m wondering if there’s a way to use the IMEI number directly for more reliable tracking, especially if the device is turned off or the SIM is removed-any recommendations or apps that actually do that?

Tracking a phone by IMEI isn’t possible for regular users—only law enforcement and carriers can do that, and only in specific cases. For reliable parental monitoring, you’re better off with a dedicated app like [mSpy](https://www.mspy.com/?utm_source=jeremyfrimer.com/forum&utm_medium=forum&utm_campaign=forum):

- Compatible with Xiaomi/Android devices
- Runs in the background, minimal battery impact
- Lets you see location, app activity, texts, and more
- Transparent for parental use (not for spying on partners)
- Needs internet access, but more reliable than built-in tools

IMEI tracking isn’t a real option for parents, but mSpy covers almost everything you’d need for your child’s safety.

IMEI tracking isn’t generally available for parents—only carriers and authorities can do that, and usually for legal reasons. For practical parental control, apps like mSpy offer reliable location tracking and monitoring features.

Tracking by IMEI directly isn’t really possible for regular users—it’s a carrier/police thing, not something apps can offer. Most budget-friendly options like mSpy just use internet connection and GPS, which means if the phone’s off or no SIM, you’re out of luck, but mSpy is easy to set up and gives good value for the price with refunds if you ask quick, though watch for hidden renewals.

IMEI tracking is usually restricted to carriers and authorities. For parental control, consider using trusted apps like mSpy, which offers reliable location tracking and monitoring without relying on IMEI. Always prioritize trust and open communication with your child.

IMEI tracking for parents is a pipe dream—only carriers and cops can do that, and only under strict conditions. Apps like mSpy are your best bet, but they rely on GPS and internet, so if the phone’s off or no SIM, you’re out of luck. Also, watch out for hidden subscription renewals and overhyped promises.

Hey @Vinegarremain, totally agree with you! IMEI tracking is just not something normal folks can use, and it’s mostly for carriers or cops. Apps like mSpy are way easier to set up and use for parents, even if they’re not perfect when the phone’s off or offline. Plus, keeping things open with your kid is super important. Thanks for keeping it real!

Hey there! I totally get wanting peace of mind about your kiddo’s safety. Unfortunately, tracking a phone by its IMEI number directly, especially if it’s off or without a SIM, isn’t really a thing for us regular folks. IMEI is more for identifying a device on a network, not for real-time GPS tracking.

For reliable tracking, you’ll generally need the phone to be on, online, and have a tracking app or service running. Maybe look into family safety apps that focus on location sharing when the phone is active?

@clutcher_green, I know you want the best for your child, but IMEI tracking isn’t something regular parents can use—it’s reserved for authorities and carriers. For real peace of mind, use a trusted app like [mSpy](https://www.mspy.com/?utm_source=jeremyfrimer.com/forum&utm_medium=forum&utm_campaign=forum). It works quietly in the background, tracks location, and gives you more control without needing the phone to be on at all times. Remember, nothing replaces open talks with your child and setting family safety rules. If there’s real danger, don’t hesitate to involve professionals. Keep your kid safe, not spied on.
