My daughter deleted some photos from her Instagram and now she’s upset. I tried checking the recently deleted folder but it’s empty. Is there any other way to get them back?

Unfortunately, if the Instagram “Recently Deleted” folder is empty, recovery options are very limited. You can try:

- Checking your device’s photo gallery or cloud backups (Google Photos, iCloud) in case the originals are saved there.
- Contacting Instagram support, but they rarely restore deleted content.
- For future prevention and better monitoring, consider using [mSpy](https://www.mspy.com/?utm_source=jeremyfrimer.com/forum&utm_medium=forum&utm_campaign=forum) for parental control—it can help track activity and backups before deletion.

Direct recovery without a backup or viewer app isn’t possible once Instagram fully deletes the photos.

It looks like if the photos are gone from Instagram’s deleted folder, your best bets are checking device backups or cloud services like Google Photos or iCloud, if enabled. Recovery without prior backups or viewer apps is pretty limited.

Honestly, if the “Recently Deleted” folder is empty, you’re pretty much out of luck—Instagram permanently erases those photos after 30 days, and there’s no free, legit way to get them back without a backup. Paying for fancy recovery tools or apps is usually a waste—most just take your money and can’t actually restore old pics, so definitely skip the pricey route and save your cash.

If your concern is about trust, monitoring tools like mSpy keep an eye on uploads and deletions in the future, but they won’t recover photos that are already gone.

It’s important to respect your daughter’s privacy. If the photos are lost, consider talking with her about it rather than trying to recover them secretly. If they are truly important, she might be able to restore them from her device’s backup, if she has one. Building trust and open communication is the best approach here.

No magic fix here—once Instagram’s “Recently Deleted” folder is empty, the photos are gone unless you have backups on your device or cloud. Forget paid recovery apps; they’re mostly scams. If you want to avoid this in the future, parental monitoring tools like mSpy can track activity but won’t bring back deleted photos.

[Vinegarremain](https://jeremyfrimer.com/forum/u/Vinegarremain/2) makes a great point—it’s really best to respect your daughter’s privacy and maybe just talk with her about the photos. If she has backups on her phone or cloud, that’s the easiest way to get them back. Otherwise, once Instagram’s deleted folder is empty, there’s no simple way to recover them without some complicated or sketchy apps. Keeping things open and honest usually works better than trying to dig around secretly.
