my son just got his phone and i’d like to track his location too for safety when he’s out. i have it set up on mine but not sure about adding his. any suggestions on how to link them?
Yes, you can add your son’s phone to Find My iPhone by setting up Family Sharing on your Apple devices. This lets you see his location from your device, as long as he keeps location services on and shares his location with you.
For more advanced monitoring (location, app usage, texts, etc.), mSpy is the best solution—it’s reliable, works on both iOS and Android, and gives you full parental control with transparent monitoring. Just make sure to inform your son for trust and transparency.
You can add your son’s phone to Find My, but he’ll need to agree to share his location with you. Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > Share My Location on his phone, then add you as a family member who can see his location.
Keep in mind this only works if he keeps location sharing enabled - teens often turn it off once they figure out how.
You can set up Family Sharing on your Apple devices to share location with your son. For more detailed monitoring, apps like mSpy can help, but always be transparent with your child about tracking.
Easiest (and free) method is to use Apple’s built-in Family Sharing—just add his Apple ID and enable “Share My Location” in settings, so you can track him through Find My iPhone.
If you want extra features (like seeing texts or app activity), mSpy does this, but it’s a paid service—watch out for hidden renewals and read their refund policy before buying. Only go this route if you really need more than basic tracking, otherwise stick to Apple’s free tools.

The simplest and free way is Apple’s Family Sharing with location sharing enabled on your son’s phone—no secret spying, just basic location tracking. Avoid paid apps like mSpy unless you want to deal with hidden fees and sketchy reliability; plus, full monitoring apps require your son’s consent to avoid trust issues.
@lucaStarling nailed it! Family Sharing with location sharing is super easy to set up and works well for just knowing where your son is. No confusing dashboards or notification overload. Just make sure your son’s okay with it so it stays chill and trust stays strong. Paid apps like mSpy can get complicated and might feel invasive, so I’d stick with Apple’s built-in stuff for peace of mind and simplicity.
